Devon completely turned what was honestly one of the most stressful experiences I’ve dealt with into something I’m now genuinely proud of. What started as a sewer backflow nightmare in my basement could have easily stayed a moldy disaster, but Devon approached it with professionalism, urgency, and an incredible eye for detail. From day one, Devon was transparent, responsive, and clearly knew exactly how to navigate both the technical and aesthetic sides of the job. Every step of the process felt organized and intentional, which gave me a lot of confidence and joy. What really sets Devon apart is the transformation itself. This wasn’t just a cleanup. Devon reimagined the space. My basement went from damaged and stressful to easily the most beautiful area in my home. If you’re looking for someone who can not only fix a problem but elevate your space beyond what you thought was possible, Devon is the person to call. I would recommend Devon without hesitation.
Updated: As you can see in the before and after photos, the failure occurred because the increase in countertop depth without a corresponding extension of the supports created a mechanical lever. Since the supports didn't reach the outer edge, the overhang lacked structural stability, which put excessive torque on the wall fasteners and caused the break. While the goal was to provide more surface area, the execution created a structural imbalance. The original setup had supports that reached the edge; by increasing the depth but keeping the supports short, the countertop essentially became a lever. This resulted in the unit pulling away from the wall under standard weight. Original: The trouble started with the insurance company that recommended Paul Davis. It didn't occur to me that such a referral might be flawed. I've since identified other companies to use. During the early stages of planning, it was clear that, in addition to the insurance-related work, my bathtub was leaking. I asked them to fix it at my cost. They agreed and then forgot. Unfortunately, additional damage occurred after Paul Davis finished, resulting in extra costs. If Paul Davis said no, I would have hired a plumber myself to come out and fix it before they finished their repairs. They didn't seem to care about this issue and never responded to me. They also installed a new toilet when the old one was present and serviceable. They also left the old toilet in the basement and never asked any questions. Finally, my tenant recently experienced damage to some of the work that was done. Paul Davis said it had been too long since they completed the job and questioned the tenant's honesty, which was unnecessary. I recommend hiring a small company that has local connections. These folks are corporate and don't care about the customer.
The mitigation team Quickly responded to access the water damage. David was great. We then met with Eddie the project manager. He was very informative and thoroughly explained the repair process. He checked in frequently during the process and walked us through what was needed from us and what to expect He told us the crew would remove the lower wall cabinets to place tile under them and for us to move the contents which we did however the cabinets were not removed one of the reasons was they would have interfered with the backsplash tile around the counter. So no tiles were placed under the floor cabinets which I questioned since it was in our charges and I was concerned of the condition of the floors under them which were right next to the dishwasher. The floor tiles look very nice with straight lines and Alex did a great job with the pattern. However the next day after looking at the floor some of the floor tiles were noted to be uneven they were raised in some of the corners with somewhat sharp edges When I pointed it out I was told our floor was uneven. . The grout lines were not smooth in many areas. Our contractor came back to attempt to fix the grout and try to fix the areas his attempt was unsuccessful in trying to even the tiles Unfortunately the affected tiles are in clear view and very noticeable to others as well. As for the team working in our home The crew was wonderful. They sealed the areas to contain dust and maintain safety. They were punctual and always checked with me as to decisions along the way. They left the job site clean and tidy every evening and went above and beyond to help us. They were hard working, respectful and very pleasant. However I did expect my floor to be level and the tiles to be even. As a follow up they have been in contact and they will continue to explore options to correct the problem.
