Wes came to my house within an hour of me calling him. about 20 minutes later his whole team quickly and gently emptied my basement, pumped out all the water & dried it completely. they hauled away & cleaned my items that were savable. I had been debating whether to spend any more of my time writing a review of Ecobak Restoration after everything my family went through. Life got busy, and I hadn't gotten around to it. Fortunately, Ecobak made that decision for me today by sending me an automated request asking me to leave a review. I can only assume it was sent by mistake, as I know they do not want me to leave a review, but since they asked, here's my honest experience. What began as a mold remediation and bathroom rebuild turned into a months-long project filled with poor communication, scheduling issues, repeated workmanship problems, and a lack of quality control. The project stretched to roughly six months, during which my family was without a functional bathroom, and I used numerous PTO and work-from-home days waiting for workers who were frequently delayed, rescheduled, or didn't arrive as expected. The initial mold remediation itself raised concerns. Containment repeatedly failed, remediation did not appear to follow the independent inspector's protocol, and additional cleaning and drywall removal had to be performed after I challenged the work. The rebuild brought even more issues. We experienced incorrect paint color and sheen, poor drywall finishing, sloppy caulking, incomplete work, and an improperly installed shower door that trapped water because the drainage system had been sealed with silicone. While one subcontractor eventually did an outstanding job correcting the painting, many other aspects of the project required repeated callbacks and oversight from me. Today, 3 months later, the shower door is still improperly installed and retains standing water with an unpleasant odor. The shower pan has progressively developed a widespread creaking issue, and I have since had multiple independent contractors inspect it. Upon discussions with other professionals and research on these issues, I have learned that they left me with another mold problem waiting to happen. Their conclusion was that the shower will likely need to be completely torn out and rebuilt. I was quoted approximately $13,000 to repair work that I had already paid Ecobak to complete. I did file a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. While they provided limited assistance, I have not pursued legal action. Instead, I have spent considerable time consulting with contractors and handymen in hopes of finding a reasonable solution, only to learn that there isn't one that doesn't involve significant additional expense. This experience has been incredibly stressful, expensive, and invasive to our family's life. Instead of feeling relieved after a major restoration project, I've been left with ongoing defects, uncertainty, and the prospect of paying thousands of dollars to correct work that should have been done properly the first time. I am still open to Ecobak choosing to make this right in some fashion. I would genuinely prefer a fair resolution over a prolonged dispute. However, based on my experience, I cannot recommend the company.
